You are responsible for all of us out here dripping tears onto our keyboards. <br /><br />Things left unsaid are often conveyed in our actions over a lifetime, I think. What isn't said out loud probably was inferred on numerous occasions. As for the time your mom said "Superman" I wouldn't think she only meant your dad. Limiting our heroes to one isn't usually the case. Her adoration and love was probably not mutually exclusive to him but included all the people in her family. (or at least that would hold true for me...I adore my husband but the same could be said about my son and daughter.)<br /><br />I think the traditional vows are still said in church/religious ceremonies. However, I think weddings, in general, are less religious based. Our church still uses the liturgy that has been around for next to ever unless the couple involved asks for something different. <br /><br />You are quite blessed to have parents that loved each other and stayed together for 57 years. I am not sure how many people can say that their parents "loved" each other for the long haul. To have loving parents has to be one of life's greatest gifts.
